On his return from England, Habib joined the firm of William Perry. His first assignment was to work on a house in Karachi for business tycoon Gul Mohammad Adamjee. Mr. Adamjee wanted a very contemporary house for his family geared to social entertaining with a large garden and central air-conditioning. Perry was a modernist – this worked very well with Habib. The striking feature of the house is the square parasol acting as a double roof cantilevering on four columns for shade and protection from the heat of summer months. Fair face concrete, Lasbela stone and plaster white walls are the main finishes.
