The HBL Tower in Karachi is a contemporary architectural masterpiece combining practical features with aesthetic considerations. Its exterior is made of weatherproof porcelain tiles and double low-e glazing in accordance with environmental guidelines (internal link) outlining green building principles
The HBL Tower is Pakistan’s first office building to receive Silver LEED certification. It represents sustainable development concepts and architectural creativity. The key strategy HFA used was to maximize the surface area of its northern façade, strategically limiting the sun’s heating effect and lowering overall energy consumption. The lobby features a grand entrance, a reception, a seamless security system, and a long water body. HBL Tower has six elevators, two of which cover all parking floors. The tower has an executive lounge on the second floor; other amenities include a cafeteria gym, a yoga rehabilitation room, an executive lounge, and a priority banking lounge.
The internal design of HBL Tower features Armani gray marble for flooring and travertine as a wall cladding in the lobby and corporate lounges. It has energy-efficient HVAC systems, raised access flooring, and an underfloor air distribution. These systems maintain temperature and humidity levels while reducing power consumption by lowering the air conditioning tonnage required. We used a reflective roof and shade trees to reduce heat absorption, and also used low-VOC materials to improve indoor air quality. Water-efficient landscaping improved the sustainability by conserving water.
Furthermore, the building includes water saving techniques, such as sensors that guarantee water flows only when necessary and low-flow fixtures that significantly reduce water usage compared to traditional models. For more details, please refer to the project specifics provided below:
